OTHER ELECTIONS

The race between Republican Rob Bradley and write-in candidate Mike Heemer for County Commission chairman will be on the November ballot, as will a package of proposed amendments to the Clay County charter. Also, incumbent Tax Collector Jimmy Weeks had no opposition for re-election and Deputy Property Appraiser Roger Suggs had no opposition in his bid to succeed the retiring Wayne Weeks. As a result, Weeks and Suggs were elected automatically and will not be on the primary or general election ballot.

The following Clay County candidates are seeking one seat or another in the Tuesday Republican primary. But each and every candidate will not be on each and every ballot. Some seats are elected by district, others countywide. Also, some seats are open to voting only to registered Republicans, others are open to all registered voters.

Under Florida law, if all candidates for an office have the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the general election, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in the primary elections for that office.
