Eat healthy, stay casual

If you're trying to avoid fast food, but your not ready to become a vegetarian, Camille's Sidewalk Cafe might be the place for you.

Camille's owner, Mark Duke, describes the cuisine as a quick and healthy alternative to fast food. The menu features wraps, sandwiches, salads and smoothies, and to help wash it all down, a small selection of beers and gourmet coffee.

I often stop in to grab one of their sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches on my way to the office. I'd feel guilty about eating the amount of sausage and cheese that comes with a month's worth of breakfast sandwiches, but I justify it by the bowl of fresh fruit that is always included as a side.

If you're more of a lunch person, I suggest the chicken caeser wrap. It's filling and tasty, and has just enough of a health edge to convince your meal companions that you're a conscious eater. If a wrap isn't your thing, Duke suggests any of the four panini sandwiches.

Duke opened the restaurant in May of 2007, and says he and his partner chose this location because of the growing community.

"I like this area and think its prosperous," he said, adding, "And there was really nowhere else to eat out here."

While Camille's is a franchise - based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma - it's the only one of it's kind in St. Johns County.
