Mysterious lumberjack
On Aug. 18, a resident of the 100 block of Cattail Circle informed the Sheriff's Office that someone cut down a number of small trees on her property.
A report of the incident stated the victim discovered several small saplings and branches from larger trees had been cut down without her permission. The victim said the saplings were cut down sometime between July 21 and Aug. 18.
An initial investigation by the reporting deputy yielded no conclusive results and there are no suspects at this time.
Missing plants
A nursery in the 600 block of State Road 13 reported to the Sheriff's Office that several Queen Palms were stolen from the property on Aug. 16 or 17. The owner told the deputy that there have been several similar thefts in the past few months. She also stated suspects in past thefts have used the business's Bobcat front in-loader in order to steal heavier plants.
An employee said he confronted someone who was walking around the property after business hours. According to the employee, that person left the property in a hurry, leaving through an entrance closed to the public, after being informed the business was closed for the day. The employee said he noted the person's vehicle type and color but was unable to obtain a license plate number.
Officers took photographs of the scene, and made of cast of the tire tracks left by the suspect vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.
Trailer hitched
A resident off Greenbriar Road informed the Sheriff's Office his 24 foot trailer was stolen sometime between July 1 and Aug. 15. The victim told officers the trailer was chained to a tree near his residence.
An incident report states officers discovered damage to the tree where the trailer was stolen, but found nothing of evidential value. There are no suspects at this time.
Mailbox tampering
On Aug. 16 a resident in the 500 block of Dandelion Dr. informed the Sheriff's Office that someone stole his mailbox out of the front yard the night before. The victim said he later found the mailbox on the side of the road near the intersection of Durbin Creek Blvd. and Davis Pond Blvd.
A report states other residents in the area have reported similar activity, along with finding trash stuffed into their mailboxes.
The victim also informed deputies his vehicle was broken into. He said the items stolen consisted of an mp3 player, a pack of cigarettes and Rosary beads.
Officers had no suspects for either case at the time of the report.
